Fat Thor is a version of Thor who due to depression gained too much weight. When he and all the Avengers failed to stop Thanos, Thor was unable to control his failure emotion and he returned to Tonsberg and transformed it into a new Asgard. He stayed there for several years in a state of depression and became an alcoholic. Due to this, he gained a lot of weight as he had no work to do except eat and drink alcohol.

He was first seen in Avengers: EndGame when Hulk and Rocket Raccoon came to New Asgard to recruit Thor to the Avengers team and help them retrieve the Infinity Stones by going in the past and stopping Thanos again. At first, Thor refused to go with them but later he changed his mind and again joined the Avengers. They returned to Earth and Thor was still alcoholic and careless until the time came when the Avengers needed him the most and all his powers returned.
