Jeff the Land Shark presents a unique challenge because he is not a humanoid hero in spandex or armor—he is a quadrupedal baby shark with stubby legs, a wide grin, and an unmistakable rounded profile. Recreating him as a wearable suit means focusing on volume, shape, and his signature collar. In Marvel Rivals, his playful proportions stand out immediately, featuring smooth slate-grey skin, pale belly shading, and that bright pink collar looped around his neck.
An inflatable base provides the most direct route to capturing that plump, cartoonish silhouette without having to sculpt yards of high-density foam or deal with an unbearably heavy mascot head. Pairing an inflatable body with customized collar hardware gives you an instantly recognizable version of the character that stays light on your shoulders during an all-day event.
The Shark Body and Silhouette
A full-body gray inflatable shark costume handles the primary bulk of the build. Because Jeff has rounded fins, a stout tail, and a wide head, the inflated air pocket naturally holds that comical, bloated shape without internal boning or structural wire. When setting up the suit, step into the legs first, pull the arm sleeves on, and seal the main zipper completely before turning on the battery-powered blower. The fan needs continuous airflow to keep the shark’s snout and dorsal fin upright, so keeping spare AA batteries or a compatible USB battery pack in an inner pocket prevents the suit from sagging halfway through the day.
Underneath the inflatable shell, wear light athletic clothing like shorts and a plain t-shirt. The continuous air circulation from the blower keeps you cooler than a closed foam mascot suit, but body heat still builds up in enclosed polyester over several hours. Foot placement is another practical factor: most inflatable suits feature elastic cuffs at the ankles that fit over regular sneakers, allowing you to walk normally while the wide fabric fins drape over the top of your shoes.
The Pink Collar and Brass Tag
The single piece of costuming Jeff actually wears in Marvel Rivals is his vibrant neck accessory. It consists of a wide neon pink collar fastened securely around his neck, displaying a metallic tag at the front. Rather than sewing a strap from scratch, a neon pink adjustable softball belt provides the heavy-duty webbing, width, and punchy color needed to show up clearly against the grey body.
To fit the collar around the wide circumference of an inflated shark neck, adjust the belt to its maximum extension, or connect two belts together if the suit’s neck area requires extra length. Slide the buckle toward the back or side so the front stays flat and unobstructed.
Suspended from the collar is Jeff’s identification tag. An arch-shaped engravable brass dot tag closely matches the rounded, classic pet tag shape seen on his character model. You can leave the polished brass surface blank or use a rotary engraving tool—or a fine-tipped black paint pen—to add his name right across the center. Connect the brass tag to the belt using a sturdy split ring or a small brass carabiner so it hangs freely without twisting backward as you walk.
Mobility and Practical Handling
Navigating a crowded convention floor in an inflatable suit requires extra spatial awareness. Your overall width will be nearly double your normal shoulder span, and the tail adds extra clearance behind you. Take wider turns around corners, keep clear of sharp prop weapons, and designate a friend or handler to help guide you through tight doorways.
Visibility through the mesh viewing window is generally wide, but downward peripheral vision is limited by the shark’s protruding snout. Taking deliberate, measured steps prevents tripping over low obstacles or uneven floor transitions. If you need to take a break, unzip the side vent to let the suit deflate gently rather than compressing the seams against a convention chair.
