Namaari Costume: Raya and the Last Dragon

Namaari’s design from the Fang Land is built entirely around clean lines, structured drapery, and functional agility. Her outfit balances utilitarian martial cuts with regal gold accents, anchored by a neutral base and striking crimson waist wraps.

Putting this costume together relies on getting the silhouettes and layering right rather than dealing with heavy armor pieces. The core consists of a fitted neutral top, draped teal-slate trousers, layered sashes, and sharp metallic accessories that reflect her position as Fang’s warrior princess.

Top and Trousers

Her top is a simple, fitted off-white or beige tank top with a high neckline and clean armholes. A ribbed or matte stretch knit works best here so it stays tucked smoothly beneath the layered waistline without bunching up.

For the bottom, Namaari wears voluminous dark teal or slate-blue harem pants that taper tightly into the calves. The loose cut through the thighs provides the signature draped look while allowing complete freedom of movement. Finding trousers with a gathered cuff or elastic ankle band makes tucking or pairing them with footwear straightforward.

Layering the Waist Wrap and Belt

The waistline is the most visually complex part of her outfit. Namaari wears a broad crimson red sash wrapped securely around the midsection, hanging down in front as an asymmetrical apron or tabard. You can achieve this by folding a wide length of red fabric or a rectangular shawl, knotting it securely at the hip or waist, and letting the excess drape down the front.

Over the red wrap sits a distinctive gold belt formed of heavy square links. This should sit snugly over the red sash rather than directly on your hips, keeping the fabric secure and defining the waist. If the links feel too loose or shift while walking, a couple of hidden safety pins anchored into the fabric beneath will keep the metal aligned.

Jewelry and Arm Accents

Namaari wears matching gold arm bands set high on the upper biceps and forearms. Rigid or semi-flexible metal cuffs give the cleanest appearance. If solid metal cuffs tend to slide down your arms during wear, lining the inner rim with thin moleskin or fashion tape creates enough friction to keep them in place without pinching.

Her earrings are long gold tassels hanging from stud bases. Because they dangle near the neck and collarbone, lightweight metallic threads or hollow chain tassels are much easier to wear for long periods than solid cast pieces.

Curled Toe Footwear

Her shoes feature a distinctive curled toe design rooted in Southeast Asian traditional footwear styling. Simple slip-on black curled toe slippers match the animated silhouette cleanly. If you plan to walk on convention concrete or rough outdoor surfaces, check the sole thickness—many costume slippers have thin fabric or vinyl soles, so adding an adhesive rubber sole tread helps with grip and durability.

Dual Sabres and Hair Styling

Namaari fights with twin curved blades that she wields with quick, precise movements. A pair of toy curved sabres provides the correct blade curvature without running into convention weapon safety limits. Painting the hilts or adding subtle weathering with dark acrylic paint helps knock down any plastic sheen so they look closer to functional steel.

Her hairstyle is an undercut with the hair swept across to one side in a sharp, textured crop. If your natural hair does not match the cut, a short lace-front wig with pre-trimmed sides makes it easy to replicate the sharp part and directional flow.
