Jinmay Cosplay Guide: SRMTHFG Costume

Jinmay’s outfit relies on a high-contrast palette of pastel mint green, warm orange, and bubblegum pink. Her animation design from Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! is clean and graphic, so pulling the costume together comes down to matching those block colors and getting the proportions of her schoolgirl-style pinafore right.

Because her clothing pieces are based on real-world wardrobe staples, you don’t need to sew an entire outfit from scratch. The real work is balancing the saturated tones so the pieces sit well together and positioning the central chest emblem cleanly on the bib.

The Pinafore Dress and Shirt Layer

The core of Jinmay’s look is a mint green pinafore dress worn over a short-sleeve orange blouse. An A-line or skater-cut jumper skirt with thick shoulder straps provides the correct animated shape, giving the skirt enough flare without needing heavy petticoats underneath. A cotton blend or polyester with some structure holds the silhouette best, keeping the bib flat against your chest so the heart patch doesn’t buckle.

Underneath, the orange blouse provides the high-energy contrast that defines her torso. A basic button-up or polo-style collared shirt with short sleeves works well. Pay attention to how high the neckline sits relative to the bib of your pinafore; you want the orange collar and short sleeves visible framing the mint straps, without extra fabric bunching up awkwardly around the armholes.

Applying the Chest Heart

The pink heart emblem on Jinmay’s chest is her most specific visual marker. An embroidered pink heart patch is the most durable route to get that clean, cartoon-accurate look on the bib. Measure the center point between the straps while wearing the dress, or lay it flat and mark the center with tailor’s chalk before pressing.

While iron-on adhesive works on heat-tolerant fabrics, giving the patch a few anchor stitches around the perimeter prevents the edges from lifting during a long day of movement. If your pinafore is made of synthetic material prone to scorching under a hot iron, placing a damp pressing cloth between the patch and the iron will protect the fabric, or you can stitch it directly with matching pink thread.

Styling the Pink Wig

Jinmay’s hair is bright bubblegum pink with straight blunt bangs and flared ends that frame her face. A shoulder-length or short bob wig in a vibrant pink gives you the proper foundation. Straight out of the package, most synthetic wigs will hang too flat, so plan on trimming the bangs to sit just above the eyebrows to match her wide-eyed animated expression.

To get the outward flip on the side sections, use a hairdryer on low heat with a round brush, or clamp the ends with a flat iron set below 300 degrees Fahrenheit if the fibers are heat-resistant. Hold each curled section until the synthetic fiber cools completely, as heat-resistant wig fibers only lock into their new shape once they drop in temperature. A light mist of hairspray will keep the flipped tips crisp throughout wear.

Socks and Footwear

The bottom half of the costume is straightforward: solid white knee-high socks paired with mint green flats. Simple opaque socks that hit right beneath the knee work best; sheer tights won’t give that solid animation look. For shoes, flat patent slip-ons or ballet flats in a matching mint green finish off the lower silhouette cleanly while staying comfortable for walking across convention floors.
