Apollo Justice DIY Costume Guide

Apollo Justice drops the conventional courtroom suit jacket in favor of a bright red vest, rolled-up white sleeves, and an eye-catching peacock blue necktie. The silhouette leans energetic and slightly informal compared to traditional legal attire, giving him the look of someone who just stepped out of a frantic backstage briefing.

Because Apollo’s outfit relies entirely on tailored separates rather than custom armor, assembling it comes down to color coordination and hair structure. The primary challenges are securing a close color match between the vest and trousers, and sculpting his two rigid front hair horns so they hold their shape through movement.

Matching the Red Vest and Trousers

Apollo wears a tailored crimson vest over matching red trousers. Finding a separate vest and pair of slacks that share the exact same dye lot can be tricky, so sticking to true primary red or deep scarlet keeps the top and bottom visually consistent. The vest features a black back panel with an adjustable cinch strap, which lets you pull the waist in snugly over the dress shirt so fabric does not bunch up beneath the armholes.

The gold Ace Attorney defense attorney badge attaches to the upper left lapel of the vest. Standard costume pins come with a butterfly clutch or safety-pin backing. If the pin droops forward under its own weight on lightweight vest fabric, backing the inside of the lapel with a small square of stiff cardstock or felt gives the clasp enough tension to hold the badge flat.

Shirt and Necktie

A standard white button-up dress shirt forms the base layer. Since Apollo always works with his sleeves rolled up, choose a shirt with cuffs that fold cleanly past the elbows without cutting off forearm circulation. Rolling the cuffs twice and smoothing the fabric flat against the forearm keeps the line clean without constant readjusting.

The necktie provides the sharpest color contrast in the entire outfit. Rather than navy or royal blue, Apollo sports a narrow necktie in deep peacock blue. Tie it with a neat, compact four-in-hand knot, pull it snug against the closed collar, and tuck the tail directly into the waistband of the vest so the blue bar stays centered down the chest.

Styling the Spiked Wig

Apollo’s twin hair horns define his profile more than any other element. Starting with a short dark brown synthetic wig, section out two triangular locks of hair at the front hairline directly above the forehead. Clip the remaining hair backward so it stays out of the styling area while you build the spikes.

To get the horns to stand vertically without drooping, tease the roots of each section upward with a fine-tooth comb. Work a generous amount of extra strong hold styling gel into the hair fibers from root to tip, smoothing each horn into a tapered cone. Directing a hairdryer on low heat toward the base sets the gel quickly, locking the synthetic fibers in an upright position. Once the gel dries into a hard shell, a quick pass of freeze spray around the tips prevents the points from fraying during wear.

The Brass Bracelet

The final character-specific piece is the wide bangle worn on Apollo’s left wrist. In the games, this antique brass band contracts when a witness exhibits a nervous tell. For the costume, a simple rigid brass cuff or closed bangle slipped over the bare left forearm sits just below the rolled shirt cuff. If the metal band feels loose and rattles against your wrist bone, lining the inner rim with adhesive moleskin creates a snug, non-slip fit against the skin.
