Andrea Davenport Costume Guide

Andrea Davenport’s design in The Ghost and Molly McGee is built around clean color blocking. The palette pairs bright magenta-pink with deep purple, mauve, and a huge splash of teal-blue hair. Because the pieces themselves are mostly casual streetwear garments, putting the costume together comes down to matching the specific saturation of each color and handling the exaggerated volume of her hair.

Unlike detailed fantasy or armor builds, animated character designs like this depend heavily on silhouette and clean separations between garments. Each layer has a distinct border, so sharp lines and well-fitted pieces keep the overall appearance crisp and faithful to the source animation.

Styling the Ombre Wig

Andrea’s hair provides the biggest visual anchor of the character. Her hairstyle has tremendous volume, sweeping to one side with thick curls resting over the shoulder and a smooth gradient shifting from aqua teal down to deep royal blue.

A pre-dyed blue ombre wig gives you the right color transition without the mess of hand-dyeing synthetic fiber. Out of the package, synthetic wigs often lay flat, so gently backcombing the crown and teasing the interior layers will build the cartoonish fullness she displays on screen. Setting the swooping side bangs with a firm-hold hairspray and using low heat or steam to shape the curved ends prevents the style from drooping during long wear.

Hoodie and Waist Layering

The upper half consists of a bright pink pullover hoodie. The fit should be slightly relaxed through the torso without swallowing your frame, leaving enough room to cleanly cinch the waistline.

Andrea wears a matching pink belt wrapped directly over the lower section of the hoodie. Belting a sweatshirt can cause fabric to bunch awkwardly, so smooth the excess material upward and evenly distribute the folds around your sides before securing the buckle. If the waistband of the hoodie is thick or stiff, tucking the bottom ribbing inward or choosing a hoodie made from a lightweight cotton-poly blend makes it much simpler to achieve that defined silhouette.

Skirt and Leggings

Below the belt, the costume transitions into deep purple and mauve tones. A purple pleated skirt provides the flare shown in her animation model, sitting high on the waist right beneath the belted hoodie. Sharp knife pleats hold their shape well and keep the lower half structured while walking.

Beneath the skirt, solid mauve leggings cover the legs completely down to the ankles. Selecting mauve rather than standard black or bubblegum pink matters because that muted berry tone creates the exact bridge between the vivid purple skirt and the stark white footwear. Choose opaque, matte leggings that maintain consistent color when stretched so fabric sheer doesn’t break the color block.

White Booties

White heeled booties complete the outfit. Andrea wears clean white ankle boots with a modest heel that gives the character extra height. A sturdy block heel around two to three inches provides stability for walking while matching the animated proportion. Keeping scuff-removing wipes in your kit helps maintain their bright appearance throughout the day.
