What You’ll Need
Shino Aburame’s design is defined by concealment. Almost none of his skin shows, his eyes stay hidden behind opaque circular lenses, and his lower face remains buried inside an exaggerated high collar. That heavy coverage sets him apart from the other Konoha genin, but it also means the build hinges entirely on getting the jacket silhouette and headwear right.
Depending on which arc you want to portray, you have two primary directions: his original Part 1 appearance with the light grey high-collared jacket and brown trousers, or his Shippuden look featuring darker layers, a hood, and an eventual Chunin flak vest. Both rely on the same proportions of oversized outerwear, upright collars, and minimal visible facial features.
The Part 1 High-Collar Jacket and Trousers
In the original series, Shino wears an oversized, pale grey coat with an unusually tall collar that zips straight up to cover his mouth and nose. Standard retail jackets rarely have collars stiff or tall enough to hold that shape on their own. A loose fit grey zip-up jacket or a structured light grey motorcycle cut provides the right starting volume. To keep the collar standing upright over your lower face instead of collapsing against your neck, insert a strip of craft foam, heavyweight fusible interfacing, or lightweight plastic boning inside the collar lining.
His lower half consists of loose-fitting brown pants tucked into blue shinobi sandals. Shino wraps white bandages around his right calf and upper thigh just beneath his weapons pouch. Standard medical gauze or cotton elastic bandages handle this cleanly. Secure the loose ends with athletic tape or a hidden safety pin so the wraps stay tight while walking around all day.
The Shippuden Silhouette and Chunin Layers
For his Shippuden era, Shino shifts toward a darker, utilitarian palette. The base changes to a black cowl neck zip-up sweatshirt worn underneath a dark green hooded jacket. The cowl collar naturally bunches up to cover the lower half of your face without requiring the heavy internal stiffening of his Part 1 coat.
To recreate his late-Shippuden or Fourth Shinobi World War appearance, layer a green Chunin flak vest directly over the dark base. Swap the brown pants for straight-cut black trousers and match them with open-toed black shinobi sandals. The extra bulk around the shoulders and chest from the tactical vest gives the outfit a broader, more militant profile.
Eyewear, Wig, and Headband
Shino’s dark round sunglasses are essential. He wears small, perfectly circular black lenses set in thin dark frames that sit snugly against the bridge of the nose. Avoid oversized round fashion frames; keeping the lens diameter small ensures the glasses stay proportional between the forehead protector and collar.
His hair is dark brown, textured, and styled into dense spiky volume that fans out from beneath his Konoha headband. A short brown synthetic wig with plenty of teased fiber at the crown provides the necessary structure. Work a matte styling paste or hairspray through the strands to separate them into distinct clumps before tying the cloth forehead protector across your forehead.
Shinobi Gear and Leg Holster
Shinobi equipment includes a Leaf Village forehead protector, a ninja waist pouch, and a leg-mounted weapons holster. Position the leg holster on the right thigh directly over the bandage wraps. If the elastic strap slips while you move, stitch a small patch of hook-and-loop fastener to the back of the holster and your pants, or run a discreet fabric anchor up to your belt.
