The whole costume depends on getting the color blocking right: black on top, magenta below, and pink-silver accents tying it together. Start with a fitted black halter top that ends just above your natural waist. A stretchy cotton or modal blend with a simple tie or clasp at the neck gives the cleanest line. If off-the-rack halters sit too low, layer a black bralette or bandeau under a cropped tank with the sleeves removed—you get the same silhouette without constantly pulling the top back into place.
The magenta shorts carry the largest block of color, so the shade matters more than the cut or brand. Look for a bright pink-purple rather than a dusty rose or neon fuchsia. A relaxed athletic fit with an elastic waistband matches the loose, casual way Tiff wears them and stays comfortable through a full day. The hem should hit mid-thigh.
A black web belt with a plain rectangular silver buckle goes over the shorts, cinching the waist and separating the two main color blocks. Military-surplus belts work perfectly. Tighten it enough that the buckle sits flat and visible just below the hem of the halter top.
The cat ear beanie is the piece that makes the costume unmistakably Tiff. Knit beanies with attached ears are easy to find, but squeeze the ears before buying—some are floppy and collapse against the head, which kills the silhouette. If you already own a soft-eared beanie, insert small circles of stiff felt or craft foam inside the ear lining to hold them upright. Wear the beanie pulled down to your eyebrows with bangs peeking out underneath.
Black fingerless gloves are straightforward. Knit gloves with a short cuff are the most practical for a full day—they don’t interfere with your phone or props, and they breathe better than faux leather in warm convention halls. Either material works; just make sure they end at the knuckles with fingers completely free.
Black and white horizontally striped knee-high socks finish the legwear. The stripes should be roughly equal width, and the socks should sit just below the knee. Pair them with plain black low-profile sneakers. The shoes are background pieces—no distressing or modification needed.
Triple small silver hoop earrings are the final accent. If you have multiple piercings, space matching hoops evenly along each earlobe. Clip-on or magnetic versions work just as well and won’t show in photos. Keep them small and uniform.
For hair, angled side-swept bangs are the key feature. If you’re wearing a wig, use heat-resistant fiber and a bit of styling product to keep the bangs sharp. Natural dark hair works if you can part it deep to one side and pin the longer sections back under the beanie. The rest of the hair is barely visible anyway, so it can hang down or tuck under the hat.
Dark winged eyeliner deserves practice before the day of the event. The wing should be sharp and extended—more exaggerated than everyday makeup. Liquid liner with a fine brush tip gives the most control. Keep the rest of the face minimal; Tiff’s look is defined by the liner and the beanie, not by contouring or lip color.
