Serial Designation V’s design translates the mechanical chassis of a Disassembly Drone into a stark black-and-white silhouette punctuated by bright yellow hazard accents. Recreating her appearance relies heavily on clean color blocking, separating robotic plating from internal joint framing without overloading the outfit with bulky armor pieces.
Instead of fabricating hard-shell robotic limbs from scratch, assembling layered separates gives you the sharp, segmented proportions of the character while keeping the build lightweight and comfortable to wear for hours.
Base Layer and Torso Proportions
A matte black bodysuit establishes the dark internal frame of the drone, covering the arms, midriff, and legs in a uniform base. Pulling a pair of tailored white shorts directly over the bodysuit sets the hard-edged pelvic plating characteristic of worker and combat drone models. High-waisted white shorts maintain the sharp break between the black torso and leg segments.
When combining a stretch bodysuit with non-stretch woven shorts, check the waist placement in front of a mirror before securing any belts or clips. The shorts should rest high on the hips to keep the torso proportions compact, matching the short-waisted look of Liam Vickers’ character designs. Pinning the waistband directly to the bodysuit with safety pins from the inside prevents the shorts from shifting downward during movement.
For the upper body, pairing a white bell sleeve shirt underneath a black crop top reconstructs V’s cropped outer layer. The white wide-cut sleeves flare out from under the fitted black cropped bodice, producing the exaggerated robotic arm silhouette without needing rigid armatures.
The crop top and bell sleeve shirt combination works best when the shirt’s collar and upper chest remain tucked flat under the crop top’s neckline. If the bell sleeve cuffs feel too long or floppy over your wrists, folding the inner cuff seam upward and tacking it with a few hand stitches keeps the fabric resting cleanly above the knuckles without covering the gloves.
Complete the arm assembly with plain white gloves tucked cleanly inside the wide cuffs. This keeps the transition between hand and sleeve smooth and hides skin at the wrists.
Hazard Striping and Footwear
Disassembly Drones display caution-tape chevron patterns along their lower appendages and tails. Black and yellow striped shoes immediately introduce the proper industrial contrast at the feet, reflecting the angled hazard striping seen throughout the series.
Use black and yellow striped tape to extend the warning patterns upward onto the costume. Wrapping uniform bands of tape around the cuffs of the shoes, lower calves, or upper arms reinforces the factory-line aesthetic. Applying the tape while wearing the bodysuit ensures the stretch fabric does not pinch or warp the stripe alignment once the outfit is on.
Applying patterned tape to stretch spandex can cause constriction if wrapped too tightly around moving joints. An effective technique is cutting the tape into overlapping semi-circles or individual segments rather than a continuous tight loop, giving the fabric room to flex when bending the knees or elbows.
Hair, Visor, and Face Styling
V’s hair is a blunt, silvery-white bob with choppy side bangs. A silver bob wig provides the right length and tone straight out of the package. Light texturizing with thinning shears along the front fringe and light heat-styling on the tips creates the slightly messy, flared outward flick she sports during flight and combat scenes.
Achieving the drone head requires obscuring natural skin tones around the neck and jawline. A white hooded mask worn beneath the wig covers the hair line, neck, and lower chin in uniform white fabric, establishing a blank mechanical head base.
Because LED glasses can press against the bridge of the nose when worn over a fabric mask, adding a small piece of adhesive foam tape to the nose pads improves stability and keeps the lenses from sliding forward. The white hooded mask also doubles as a wig cap, tucking away natural hair while smoothing the transition along the jawline so the bob sits flush around the ears.
Finish the face with glowing yellow LED sunglasses seated across the bridge of the nose. The illuminated horizontal bars mimic the neon ocular sensors on a Disassembly Drone’s visor display while allowing normal forward visibility in convention halls.
