Leaf’s appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate translates her classic Generation III FireRed and LeafGreen design into high-definition 3D with clean, athletic summer proportions. Her outfit leans heavily on high-contrast primary and secondary colors: a bright red pleated mini skirt, an aqua tank top layered over black, a wide-brimmed white boater hat, and sky-blue thigh-high socks.
Because the core pieces are athletic and casual separates, the silhouette relies heavily on getting the specific color blocking and garment cuts right. The hat and messenger bag immediately establish the trainer archetype, while the layered tops and sock height keep the outfit distinctly tied to Leaf rather than a generic anime trainer.
The Layered Tank Tops
Leaf wears a ribbed aqua or light turquoise tank top over a fitted black tank top. The black under-layer peeks out subtly at the scoop neckline and around the armholes, giving the upper half a slight athletic border rather than a single solid block of color. An aqua ribbed tank top paired underneath with a simple black scoop-neck tank recreates that banded effect without needing custom seamwork. Choosing a slightly higher neckline on the black top ensures the contrast shows cleanly around the collar.
The Red Pleated Skirt
Her skirt is a classic tennis-style red pleated flare skirt that sits high on the natural waist and flares out over the hips. The crisp knife pleats provide movement and volume that balance out the fitted tanks above. A stretch-waist polyester or cotton-blend pleated flare skirt works well here; just check that the hemline leaves enough space above the knee for her thigh-high socks.
Modifying the Boater Hat
The white boater hat is Leaf’s most distinctive piece of headwear. Unlike a rounded sun hat or a baseball cap, it features a completely flat crown and a stiff, circular brim. A white wool felt boater hat provides the correct rigid structure straight out of the box.
The hat requires one quick modification: Leaf’s version has a wide red ribbon around the base of the crown with a simplified Poké Ball insignia centered on the front. Strips cut from red felt sheets can be wrapped and secured around the hat band using fabric glue or double-sided tape. For the emblem, cut a small white felt circle, overlay the top half with red felt, and add a small white center dot to complete the trainer crest.
Thigh Socks and Footwear
Her legs feature light blue thigh-high socks paired with low-profile red and white slip-on canvas sneakers. The socks should reach the mid-to-upper thigh, creating a distinct gap between the top of the sock and the hemline of the pleated skirt. Because plain knit thigh-highs tend to slip during walking, using fashion tape or a dab of body adhesive along the top elastic band will keep them sitting at an even height throughout the day.
The shoes are simple red canvas slip-ons with white soles and white rubber toe caps, keeping the footwear lightweight and flexible. Red and white canvas slip-on sneakers closely match the clean low-top profile seen in her Smash render.
Bag, Poké Balls, and Wristbands
Across her torso, Leaf carries a bright golden-yellow canvas messenger bag with a wide shoulder strap worn diagonally over one shoulder. The rectangular flap silhouette gives you an easy place to carry personal essentials while serving as an anchor for her trainer gear.
Clip a few miniature Poké Balls—such as the Pokémon Clip ’N’ Go 3-pack—directly onto the shoulder strap or around the bag’s side loops so they hang accessible at hip height.
Finish the arms with a pair of plain black wrist sweatbands worn on both wrists just below the forearm.
