Ink Sans trades the standard blue hoodie and gym shorts of Undertale for a painterly, multi-layered explorer aesthetic. His design is built around earth tones—creams, browns, and khaki—contrasted sharply against bright turquoise accents and rainbow details.
Because Ink has so many overlapping pieces, putting this outfit together is largely an exercise in stacking everyday garments in the right order. Getting the proportions right means balancing the bulky upper-body elements, like his wide scarf and chest bandolier, against the slim, layered profile of his lower half.
Torso Layers and Suspenders
Start with a neutral base using a beige sand t-shirt. Ink wears a sleeveless brown tunic over his shirt, which can be easily replicated with a loose-fitting women‘s tunic tank top in a matching light brown or taupe. The longer hem of the tank top gives you the flared tunic silhouette without needing custom tailoring.
Over the tunic, clip a pair of brown suspenders with gold clips directly to your waistband. In fan art and official designs, Ink’s suspenders run straight over the shoulders and tuck into the shorts, holding the layered shirts flat against the body so they do not bunch up beneath the heavier accessories.
Arms and Hands
Ink’s skeletal arms transition from dark brown sleeves into pale fingerless gloves. Pull a pair of brown arm warmers up past the elbows, letting the lower ribbed cuffs sit right at the wrists.
Layer beige fingerless gloves over the arm warmers. This creates a two-tone sleeve look that matches his canon arm design while keeping your fingers free to handle props or your phone throughout the day.
Crafting the Emotion Vial Bandolier
The chest bandolier is the centerpiece of Ink’s gear. An olive or brown ammo holder bandolier works as the base strap, slung diagonally from the right shoulder across the chest to the left hip.
Instead of shotgun shells, fill the elastic loops with small paint containers from a rainbow paint cups and brushes set. Ink carries seven distinct paint colors that fuel his emotions—red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple. The small plastic paint pots slide securely into standard cartridge loops. If the cups feel loose, a small dot of hot glue or velcro on the underside of each pot will keep them upright while you walk.
The Trailing Khaki Scarf
Ink’s scarf is massive and doubles as his notepad. Wrap a khaki long scarf around the neck two or three times to build volume around the collar, leaving both tails hanging loose down the back and over the front shoulder. If you want to add character-accurate details, use a black fabric marker to draw small diagrams, runes, or ink blotches along the trailing fabric ends.
Leg Layers and Waist Hoodie
The lower half combines athletic casual wear with tight undersleeves. Put on dark brown capri leggings first, which end mid-calf to represent Ink’s dark skeletal legs.
Over the leggings, wear brown cotton sweat shorts. Ink’s shorts feature distinct cyan stripes along the outer seams and hem. You can apply aqua adhesive tape directly along the side edges of the shorts to create crisp, bright lines without any sewing.
Take a turquoise surf hoodie and tie the sleeves firmly around your waist. The hood and body should drape behind you over the shorts, adding a burst of cyan that mirrors the tape accents and contrasts against the earthy brown shorts.
Sneakers and Aqua Accents
Ink wears high-top sneakers in a rich tan leather or canvas tone. Start with cognac high-top sneakers, remove the factory laces, and re-thread them with bright yellow shoe laces.
Run strips of the same aqua adhesive tape along the sneaker soles or collar trim to mirror the bright cyan accents on the shorts and waist hoodie. The combination of cognac brown, bright yellow, and aqua matches his footwear design accurately.
Skeleton Mask and Face Details
A classic Sans full latex mask provides the skeletal structure. To convert it into Ink Sans, take black acrylic paint or makeup and paint an irregular black ink splotch across the right cheekbone. Ink’s left eye socket typically glows with a bright blue or yellow star; you can paint a tiny four-pointed star inside the left socket rim using acrylic craft paint to distinguish him from standard Sans.
