Ikumi Mito’s culinary battle outfit strips the standard Totsuki uniform down to its boldest elements, blending school uniform staples with Western-inspired utilitarian gear. The silhouette balances an exposed halter top against loose shirting, anchored by heavy footwear and a distinctive thigh rig.
Recreating the look comes down to nailing the balance between casual disarray and sharp, clean accessories. Because the individual garments are straightforward retail pieces, the way you alter, wear, and anchor them determines how cleanly the costume holds together on the convention floor.
Layering the Tops
The core of Ikumi’s look relies on pairing an American flag bikini top under an open white shirt. Rather than a standard bathing suit fit, the halter ties need to stay secure under movement, so tie them firmly behind the neck before arranging the outer layer. If you want extra stability, double-sided fashion tape along the inner edges of the cups keeps the fabric firmly anchored throughout the day.
For the overshirt, a 3/4 sleeve button-down blouse provides the right sleeve length without requiring alterations. Wear it completely unbuttoned, pulled back slightly across the shoulders to expose the bikini top and collarbones. To keep the shirt from flapping open erratically or slipping off your shoulders entirely, tack a small safety pin or stitch from the inside of the shirt seam directly to the side of the bikini band.
Uniform Elements and the Necktie
The lower half pulls directly from the Totsuki Academy uniform with a yellow plaid pleated skirt. The skirt sits high on the waist with crisp knife pleats that stop mid-thigh. Choosing a skirt with a structured waistband helps maintain the silhouette, especially once the weight of the leg holster rests against your upper leg.
Her skinny red necktie with dark blue stripes is worn loose and untucked. Instead of tying a standard full Windsor knot, loop it once or twice in a relaxed knot that sits midway down the chest rather than snug against the neck. Let the ends hang freely over the open front of the shirt without tucking them into anything.
Wig Styling and Choker
Ikumi’s hair is a dirty honey-blonde cut into a short, choppy bob with tapered side pieces framing the jawline. Straight out of the package, most short blonde wigs need light thinning around the bangs and crown to remove excess density. Work a tiny dab of matte styling paste or hair wax through the ends to create piecey, defined tips, and slide a simple black barrette or clip onto the left side above the ear.
At the neck, she wears a thick red choker featuring a prominent metallic buckle at the center. Adjust the band so it sits flat against the middle of the neck without pinching, and keep the buckle hardware centered in front.
Footwear and the Thigh Holster
Her footwear consists of camel brown knee-high boots with front lacing. Because these cover the calf up to the knee, lace them comfortably snug over bare legs so they do not sag as you walk. A low, flat heel keeps you grounded and comfortable during long hours on your feet.
A black tactical drop-leg holster wraps around the upper right thigh, sitting just below the hemline of the skirt. Fasten the vertical belt loop securely to the skirt waistband or a hidden under-belt so the weight of the prop does not pull the holster down your leg. Tighten the horizontal elastic thigh straps enough to prevent shifting without cutting off circulation.
The Cleaver Prop
As the Meat Master, Ikumi’s defining prop is a heavy rectangular kitchen cleaver. For convention safety, use a lightweight plastic or high-density foam replica rather than anything metal or sharp. Verify that the cleaver’s spine slides smoothly in and out of your thigh holster pouch so you can draw and re-sheath it without snagging the straps during photos.
