Janine Melnitz‘s desk attire from the original 1984 Ghostbusters captures peak mid-eighties office eccentricity. Rather than wearing a standard corporate suit, she mixes bright colors, cropped knitwear, and angular accessories that set her apart from the rest of the firehouse crew.
The foundation relies on an everyday clerical silhouette: a crisp collared button-down, a dark tailored skirt, and opaque legwear. What immediately sells the outfit is the layered knitwear up top and the bold eyewear framing her face.
The Blouse and Patterned Shrug
The upper half combines a vibrant red long-sleeve button-down shirt with a cropped grey shrug layered over it. Fasten the shirt buttons high toward the throat so the pointed collar rests neatly outside the neckline of the knit layer.
