Kel’s appearance in OMORI splits into two distinct designs depending on whether you are building his teenage Real World version or his younger, dreamlike Headspace form. Both designs rely on breezy athletic wear and a signature sports prop, making either version comfortable to wear for an entire day on a convention floor.
The Real World version leans into an energetic high school basketball player aesthetic with bright orange tones, athletic sneakers, and messy brown hair. In contrast, Headspace Kel uses a softer pastel palette featuring a gradient tank top, purple shorts, vibrant purple hair, and an inflatable beach ball. Deciding which world to represent dictates the exact color palette, wig choice, and prop you need to gather.
Real World Jersey and Shorts
Real World Kel wears a classic basketball uniform consisting of an athletic orange tank with white side striping paired with matching loose basketball shorts. The jersey has a roomy, relaxed athletic cut. If your base tank is plain, you can use white fabric paint with painter’s tape to lay down crisp white side borders or numbers across the chest. Stretching the fabric slightly over a piece of cardboard while applying the paint prevents the design from cracking once you put it on.
For footwear, low-top or mid-top basketball sneakers in an orange and white colorway complete the outfit cleanly. Kel’s Real World prop is simply a standard regulation basketball. Carrying a real basketball gives the outfit immediate context, though letting a bit of air out before a convention makes it lighter to carry and prevents accidental bouncing in crowded hallways.
Headspace Tank and Beach Ball
Headspace Kel switches out the vivid orange uniform for a dream-world aesthetic centered around pastel blues and rich purples. His top is a sleeveless tank with a soft tie-dye or blue ombre gradient fading into white. Pairing this with solid royal purple athletic shorts creates the split color blocking seen in the game’s battle portraits and exploration sprites.
Instead of a regulation basketball, Headspace Kel fights using an inflatable beach ball. This makes for an exceptionally lightweight convention prop that packs flat in a suitcase and inflates in seconds at the venue. If you want to match the game’s classic multi-colored toy appearance, pick a traditional six-panel beach ball with alternating primary and secondary colors.
Wig Selection and Styling
Hair styling depends entirely on which version of Kel you are building. Real World Kel has medium-length, unstyled dark brown hair with choppy bangs and a slightly shaggy nape. A short brown synthetic wig with feathered layers requires only minimal trimming around the ears and a quick pass of texturizing shears through the bangs to achieve his casual, unbothered hairstyle.
Headspace Kel features vivid, monochromatic royal purple hair with spiky bangs parted across his forehead. Synthetic purple wigs often arrive with high shine, so misting the fibers lightly with dry shampoo or giving the wig a gentle warm-water wash with fabric softener softens the sheen under bright stage or camera lights. Use a bit of hair wax on the tips of the bangs to keep the separation sharp without making the spikes stiff or blocky.
